Edward C. Rutledge died at the home of his son-in-law, Robert Davis on Market Street last Monday of congestion of the stomach and bowels. Mr. Ruthledge was an old citizen of this city well-known to everybody. He had been ill a few days and his death was a surprise, as but few knew of his illness. The funeral took place Wednesday.   Edward C. Rutledge died at the residence of his son-in-law, Robert Davis, on Monday morning at 6 o'clock, of congestion of the stomach.  He had been ill but a few days. The funeral was held at the residence of Mr. Davis and the remains buried in the Odd Fellow cemetery [Oak Hill]. The funeral services were conducted by rev. W. S. Pryer, of the First Presbyterian church.
